Alejandra vila (she/her/ella), Learning & Workforce Development Specialist

Alejandra, or Alex as all her friends call her, embodies the passion and devotion of the human development field. Alex has over 30 years of experience in the field of workforce development and education. Alex started her career working as a youth minister for the Catholic Church. She’s also worked as a counselor at a shelter for youth runaways, a community gang specialist, an executive director, a community foundation officer, and finally opening her own business that focuses on consultation and training.

Alex understands the need to serve and educate populations that are disenfranchised by the system such as gang-involved youth, children with disabilities, recent immigrants, non-English speaking youth, LGTBQ youth and their families, and survivors of the justice system. She has a passion for community collaborations and inclusion, as well as leadership development. Alex is a gifted facilitator. She exposes her teams to the latest training tools, professional development principles, and group development techniques.

Over the years, Alex has established a relationship with other private and public organizations in order to help serve high-risk populations and to affect change within the systems of influence to enhance our communities. Alex brings her theories of change, work ethic, charisma, and passion to the liberation development movement. As a proud, bi-lingual Latina lesbian immigrant female, she also reminds the field of the important role that human diversity plays in fashioning organizational development strategies and leadership that are inclusive, tolerant, and responsive to the communities we serve.

Her favorite quote is “…if you see a problem and no one is doing anything about it, you are elected...” Nick Carter, Goldman Prize winner.
