Bobby Jones-Hanley (he/hIM), Director of Reentry
Bobby is a social justice change agent and entrepreneur dedicated to improving the lives and economic standing of marginalized communities. His passion for positive change is fueled by his personal life experiences. As a system impacted individual with over 30 years within the criminal legal system, he’s devoted himself to changing narratives and creating opportunities for people who are justice involved. As such, he’s developed a national reentry support network and resource hub that helps people, pre and post-release, get connected to the resources and connections they need to positively transform their lives.
He is a California Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialist and has worked in San Francisco’s workforce development sector, specializing in helping reentry populations, veterans, and homeless individuals find employment, secure housing, and pursue higher education. He serves as a co-chair on the Legislation, Policy, and Practices Subcommittee of San Francisco’s Reentry Council and is a member of the Strategy Leadership Advisory Team for Excel Network, an organization dedicated to helping the formerly incarcerated transform their lives through higher education.
Bobby has also coached Stanford students in developing a prosecutorial reform tool at Stanford’s Extreme D. School. Additionally, he is a member of the steering committee for the San Francisco Black & Jewish Unity Coalition, where he co-chairs the Criminal Justice & Prison Reform Committee. He is also a member of the T.E.A.M. Leadership Huddle, a leadership platform that includes military leaders, professional athletes, and community leaders, dedicated to helping leaders leverage their experiences to maximize their impact on those they serve.
