Bobby Jones-Hanley (he/hIM), Director of Reentry

Bobby is a social justice change agent and entrepreneur dedicated to improving the lives and economic standing of marginalized communities. His passion for positive change is fueled by his personal life experiences. As a system impacted individual with over 30 years within the criminal legal system, he’s devoted himself to changing narratives and creating opportunities for people who are justice involved. As such, he’s developed Pure1.org, a national reentry support network and resource hub that helps people, pre and post-release, get connected to the resources and connections they need to positively transform their lives.

He’s a California Medi-Cal Certified Peer Support Specialist and has worked in San Francisco’s workforce development sector, specializing in helping reentry, veterans and homeless individuals find employment, secure housing, and increase their educational attainment. He’s a co-chair on the Legislation, Policy, and Practices subcommittee of San Francisco’s Reentry Council and sits on the Strategy Leadership Advisory Team of Excell Network, an organization dedicated to helping the formerly incarcerated change their lives through higher education. Bobby has coached Stanford students in creating a prosecutorial reform tool at Stanford’s Extreme D.School. He sits on the steering committee of the  San Francisco Black & Jewish Unity Coalition  and co-chairs their Criminal Justice & Prison Reform committee. He’s also a member of the T.E.A.M. Leadership Huddle, a leadership platform composed of military leaders, professional athletes, and community leaders that aims to help leaders learn to leverage their experiences in order to have the greatest impact with those they serve.
