Ricky Godoy (he/him), Program Coach, Ready 4 Life LA
Ricky was sentenced to life in prison at 20 years old. He struggled with alcohol and drug addiction, gang affiliation, and violence. At the age of 24 years old, Ricky committed himself to his sobriety and began his transformation by participating in numerous self-help groups. While still incarcerated, Ricky went on to become a coach for CROP's Ready 4 Life and Quest programs, emphasizing personal responsibility and leadership development working alongside his fellow incarcerated.
Ricky was released after 16 years, and has continued to take an active approach in his sobriety by helping in the first 3-day Alcoholics Anonymous Conference inside of a California state prison--all while participating in 12-step workshops and sponsoring other fellows.
Ricky has dedicated his life to meeting people where they are at and being of service to all. He continues to sponsor community members and advocate for the empowerment of the otherwise overlooked. Ricky joins CROP as a Ready 4 Life Coach in Los Angeles and remains committed to helping change the future of reentry services.
